WILDLIFE AND NATURAL SCIENCE ART
I have lived and worked in the Charleston, South Carolina area as a professional
artist/illustrator for over 40 years. I was Born in Florence, South Carolina and spent
my formative years in Cary, North Carolina. My father, who was a scientist as well
as an accomplished artist himself, was my greatest influence.
I attended both Midlands Technical college and Trident Technical College as well
the College of Charleston. I also studied natural science and biological illustration
through the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators course at the Smithsonian Institute
of Natural Science in Washington, DC. I retired from the South Carolina Department
of Natural Resources in 2006 were I worked in marine science as well as in scientific
illustrating.
I am now displaying my work in various art venues in the Charleston area. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to have a private show sponsored by Rick Rhodes Studio and gallery in Charleston. I have been juried in and participated in the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) in Charleston. I am a juried member of the Charleston Artists Guild and am an exhibitor in the CAG Art Gallery. I have shown my work through various other venues such as the Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition and the First Federal Peoples Choice Art Exhibit, as well as other local art shows and events.
I continue my interest in wildlife and natural science art and photography surrounded by the wonderful natural areas of my Edisto River home in the Low Country of South Carolina.

My wildlife and natural science art will be on exhibit at the Charleston County Public Library on Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston. Please come check out the Saul Alexander Art Gallery there from February 1 thru February 28.
